Phosphorylation cascade.

   A  series  of  molecules  in  a  signal pathway are phosphorylated and
   activated in turn.
<P>
   The  phosphates  are  donated  from  ATP,  catalyzed by enzymes called
   kinases.
<P>
   Each phosphorylation acts as a switch, turning on a response.
