cycle.
Denaturation:
Heating the DNA to separate the double-stranded molecule into
single strands.
Annealing:
Cool the mixture to allow complementary primers to hydrogen-bond
to the single strands.
Extension:
Add DNA polymerase and nucleotides to replicate each strand.
