Spermatogenesis in animals occurs
   in  testes  and  starts when a diploid germ cell called spermatogonium
   grows and differentiates into a primary spermatocyte.
   Each  primary  spermatocyte undergoes meiosis I, producing two haploid
   secondary spermatocytes.
