Southern blot hybridization
In this agarose gel, lane M contains size markers. Lanes a, c, and e contain DNA from one bacterial strain of E. coli, and lanes b, d, and f contain DNA from another strain.		When DNA is transferred to a Southern blot, only those bands containing sequences complementary to the probe show hybridization. Both strains contain the probed sequence, indicating they have similar sequences in these fragments.
